Disability Support Courses Sunshine Coast

A Certificate IV in Disability Support equips you with the skills to deliver person-centred care and support individuals with disability to live more independently.

To participate in this course there is a pre-requisite of a completed CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).

Study disability support with access to government-funding.

Australian residents living in QLD may be eligible to have all or part of their course fees subsidised using the Skills Assure State Government funding scheme.

Students who do not qualify for funding:

Start with a $200 deposit, then pay as little as $42.89 per week for 12 months.

Skills Assure (QLD)

Fully or partly subsidised training for Queenslanders is available under the Career Start and Career Boost programs. Complete a short questionnaire on the Skills Gateway website to check whether your qualify.

The Certificate III in Individual Support is an entry-level course, perfect for those starting out who want to work directly with clients by assisting them with daily activities in their homes or local communities. The Certificate IV in Disability is more advanced and suited to people aiming for leadership roles, such as Team Leader or Support Coordinator, helping individuals with disability live more independently.|These two qualifications differ in terms of role preparation and responsibility. Certificate III in Individual Support is an introductory course ideal for those new to the sector, focusing on practical support with everyday tasks at home or in community settings. Certificate IV in Disability is a higher-level course, best suited for those seeking leadership positions like Support Coordinator or Team Leader, supporting people with disability to achieve greater independence.|Certificate III in Individual Support provides foundational training for new entrants into the sector, focusing on hands-on roles where you assist with daily living in homes or communities. By completing one of our disability support courses, you can progress into further qualifications and expand your career. Graduates of the Certificate III in Individual Support can continue on to study the Certificate IV in Disability, Certificate IV in Ageing Support, or another community-focused Certificate IV. Completing the Certificate IV in Disability may lead you to a Diploma of Community Services, and both courses can also help you transition into diploma or bachelor-level programs.

Absolutely. The training you receive is based on person-centred care, a key approach in both aged and disability support. This overlap makes it easier to transition between sectors and expand your job prospects.

Disability support workers, personal care assistants, and residential care officers in Australia typically earn between $60,000 and $90,000 annually, with exact figures influenced by location, role, and level of experience.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be available if you’ve studied before or have experience in the field. You’ll need to enrol in a qualification at Breakthru College and complete the RPL form included in the Learner Handbook. A $250 admin fee is charged per unit.

Yes, Breakthru College provides disability training online, making it easier to study at your own pace while managing other aspects of your life.

Your study costs may be reduced if you’re eligible for government subsidies. Funding support is available through State Government programs in QLD and NSW for qualifying students.
