Traineeships

Traineeships are a great way to combine work and study, giving eligible trainees the chance to earn a wage while completing a nationally recognised qualification. Traineeships are also great for employers, helping them cultivate talent and access wage incentives while they train new staff.

Under the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled funding, most traineeships are fee, making it easier than ever to upskill without the financial burden.

Benefits for employers and trainees

Traineeships provide a win-win for both employers and trainees:

For employers

Receive up to $5,000 in financial incentives for hiring a full-time trainee in a priority occupation (or $2,500 for part-time) under the Priority Hiring Incentive

Build a skilled, job-ready workforce

Upskill existing staff to boost retention and career development

For trainees

Receive up to $5,000 over two years in direct financial support (or $2,500 for part-time) through the Australian Apprentice Training Support Payment

Access subsidised training under Smart and Skilled

Gain a nationally recognised qualification while working
