Why investing in training matters

The disability sector is in a time of major change, with reforms aimed at lifting the standard of care, protecting the rights of people with disability, and building community trust.

The Disability Royal Commission’s final report called for significant improvements across the sector, highlighting the need for:

  • Safer, more inclusive services
  • Greater respect for choice, control and dignity
  • Consistent, high-quality support delivered by capable workforce

The NDS Workforce Census Key Findings Report also revealed that:

  • Many workers enter the sector without previous experience or training
  • Demand is rising for more complex supports, including mental health and behavioural support

At the same time, the NDIS Practice Standards set clear expectations around person-centred care, risk management, and continuous improvement.

To meet these requirements, providers must invest in training that equips teams to deliver safe, responsive, and compliant services.

At Breakthru College, we provide training built on legislation, NDIS requirements, and best practice.

What quality training achieves:

  • Equips staff with the knowledge and skills to uphold rights and deliver high-quality care
  • Reduces risk and supports compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and the Code of Conduct
  • Builds confidence and competence to respond to increasingly complex client needs
  • Strengthens organisational resilience through a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Enhances employee engagement and retention by investing in growth and professional development
