The Aged Care Sector in Townsville and Across Far North Queensland

Many Australians are seeking to maintain their independent lifestyles in their own homes for as long as they safely can. Without aged care workers, this may not be possible for many people in the region. By providing both short and long-term support in residential and home care settings alike, care workers can transform the lives of countless individuals.

The need for new workers is now greater than ever before. From 2019 to 2020 alone, more than one million Australians participated in care services, indicating a significant portion of the elderly population. For example, almost 840,000 people received home support via the Commonwealth Home Support Program, while close to 245,000 others were housed as permanent residents in aged care facilities.

When you contrast this with the 76,096 people employed through the Commonwealth Home Support Program in 2020, the clear gap between supply and demand becomes clear. Now, more than ever, we need aged care workers to step up and offer much-needed support for the older generations in Townsville and regional Queensland.
