Imagine a job that’s both varied and meaningful. In aged care, you can break away from routine and have a real impact on the lives of older people.
Aged care offers a fulfilling career where you can make a real difference to older individuals, their families, and society. It’s a role that allows you to be part of their journey later in life.
Across Australia, more than 450,000 aged care professionals work in various settings—from home care and residential services to commonwealth-supported initiatives.

Breakthru College delivers accredited aged care courses that blend theory with hands-on training. Each qualification includes a compulsory work placement to ensure students graduate with practical, industry-relevant experience.
The course enables you to take on support roles across aged care settings, focusing on person-centred care guided by individualised plans.

Support workers with this qualification carry out specialised duties across home, community, and residential settings. They work with greater independence and leadership while following established guidelines to deliver care based on individualised plans.

Students who meet the criteria may benefit from subsidised training under the Smart & Skilled (NSW) or Skills Assure (QLD) programs. Alternative payment plans are also offered for those funding their course independently.
These two courses both support the development of skills in individualised care for older Australians. The Certificate III in Individual Support has a broader application across community and health sectors, while the Certificate IV in Ageing Support is a more advanced qualification designed for specialised aged care roles with higher levels of responsibility.
To complete our full qualifications, students must undertake a work placement, usually consisting of 120 fully supported hours in an aged care environment.
You may be able to use your completed course to access further education, such as a diploma or bachelor-level qualification.
Yes, students can use previous work experience to apply for recognition of prior learning. This requires enrolment in a qualification and submission of the RPL Application Form found in the Learner Handbook. A $250 administration fee applies to each RPL unit.
Aged care qualifications at Breakthru College can be completed online, offering convenience for those who need a more flexible way to learn.
