Explore a fulfilling career path in aged care.

Imagine having a job where every day is different and rewarding

Imagine a role where no two days are the same—and each one brings the chance to help others. A career in aged care lets you make a real difference while doing meaningful work.

Aged care offers a fulfilling career where you can make a real difference to older individuals, their families, and society. It’s a role that allows you to be part of their journey later in life.

Across Australia, more than 450,000 aged care professionals work in various settings—from home care and residential services to commonwealth-supported initiatives.

With Australia's ageing population on the rise, demand for skilled aged care workers is growing rapidly. The Australian Government projects the workforce will need to expand to 980,000. Breakthru College offers quality training to help you gain the skills and experience needed to thrive in this evolving field.

Develop your skills through expert-led aged care training at Breakthru College.

We belong to the Royal Rehab Group, a not-for-profit working daily with older Australians in health and disability. That means our training is based on practical knowledge, with the goal of helping you succeed in a care-focused career.

Our trainers bring real-world insight to every lesson, sharing practical knowledge and a true passion for care. With us, you’ll gain more than a qualification—you’ll develop the skills needed to deliver meaningful support.

Common questions about aged care training

We offer several funding options, including Smart & Skilled for New South Wales and Skills Assure for Queensland residents who are eligible. Where these do not apply, payment flexibility is available through structured instalment plans.

While both courses cover the skills needed to deliver individualised care based on an older person's needs, the Certificate III in Individual Support is more general and prepares you for a broader range of roles across aged care, disability, or health care. In contrast, the Certificate IV in Ageing Support focuses specifically on aged care and qualifies you for roles with increased autonomy.

To complete our full qualifications, students must undertake a work placement, usually consisting of 120 fully supported hours in an aged care environment.

Completing one of our courses could support your progression into diploma or bachelor-level study.

Yes, students may use their work experience as evidence of prior learning. To do this, they must first enrol in a qualification and complete the RPL Application Form provided in their Learner Handbook. Please note there is a $250 administration fee per RPL unit.
