Much like physical first aid, mental health first aid is given until the person receives professional help.

Course Duration:

The qualification will support individuals in professions at risk of developing mental illness, enabling workplaces to develop practical, evidence-based action plans until appropriate professional help is received.

Mental Health in Australia

It’s believed that nearly 50% of all Australian adults, equating to roughly 7.3 million individuals, will face challenges with their mental health at some point in their lives. This can lead to life being unnecessarily challenging, causing issues like family difficulties, unemployment, self-harm, homelessness, and physical health troubles.

It’s clear that mental health services are in high demand. With the number of Australians needing mental health support and just over 62,000 mental health workers registered in Australia in 2020, we currently don’t have anywhere near the number of mental health care workers that we need. The good news is that you can be a part of the change and play a role in helping people better their lives from the inside out. Australia as a whole is looking for compassionate, dedicated people to work in the mental health sector, and here at breakthru College we’re proud to offer this opportunity.

Australia’s need for mental health services is transparent and growing. The country’s population requiring such support is immense, and with just over 62,000 registered mental health workers as of 2020, we’re far from meeting the required numbers. The encouraging part is that you can be instrumental in this change, playing a vital role in enhancing lives. Compassionate individuals dedicated to this cause are in demand across the nation, and at breakthru College, we’re honoured to facilitate this opportunity.
