Aged Care in Tuggerah & Across Australia
Aged care services can entail providing both long-term and temporary assistance at a person’s residence. For some, the need for full-time care in a facility or residential care home may arise, which can be immensely advantageous for both the individuals and their families.
In the span of 2019 to 2020, more than one million Australians availed care services, indicating the significant proportion of the elderly population. This encompassed diverse services and roles. For example, close to 840,000 individuals received home support via the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, and nearly 245,000 people were housed as permanent residents in aged care facilities.
Due to the increasing size of the older demographic, which is generally classed as people over the age of sixty-five, support workers are in great demand. In 2020, the Commonwealth Home Support Programme had 76,096 workers, and the Residential Aged Care sector had 277,671 workers. When looking at the numbers of elderly people requiring care in relation to the number of workers, it is clear that support workers are in high demand.
